MOLINE, Ill., October 29, 2012 --- Elliott Aviation, a leader in a diverse range of business aviation services, today announced the company has launched a supplemental type certification (STC) program for Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics’ MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM) as part of its Garmin G1000 avionics upgrade in King Air aircraft. Elliott Aviation expects to receive FAA certification for the MD302 SAM installation by year end.

A G1000 demonstrator panel, including SAM, is on display at Elliott Aviation’s booth (1706) at NBAA 2012. SAM will become the new standard for future G1000 installations at Elliott Aviation’s facilities at Quad City International Airport (MLI) and Des Moines International Airport (DSM).

SAM is an entirely self-contained, solid-state instrument that provides attitude, altitude, airspeed and slip information to the pilot during normal operation or in the case of primary instrument failure, enhancing system reliability and reducing pilot workload.

SAM is a compact device specifically designed to fit in less panel space than a standard set of two-inch mechanical attitude, altitude and airspeed indicators. Its unique, two-screen display features selectable horizontal and vertical orientation, allowing for flexible cockpit installation without extensive rearrangement of equipment or the need for re-certification of relocated avionics. Weighing 1.6 pounds, SAM is lighter than just one of the three instruments it is designed to replace.

Elliott Aviation has completed a total of 75 G1000 retrofit installations in King Air C90A/B/GT, 200/B200 and 300/350 aircraft to date, and its Moline, Ill. (MLI) and Des Moines, Iowa (DSM) facilities rank first and second respectively, for G1000 installations in King Airs. A Super King Air 350 featuring Elliott Aviation’s G1000 solution, is on static display (Booth 615) at Orlando Executive Airport (ORL).

“Elliott Aviation is always on the lookout for new systems that enhance the value of owners’ aircraft and improve pilot situational awareness for safer flying,” said Mark Wilken, Elliott Aviation director of avionics sales and product development. “Adding SAM to the G1000 avionics suite extends our leadership in providing innovative solutions for aircraft operators.”
