MOLINE, Ill. – Sept. 17, 2008 – Elliott Aviation today announced that the Moline, Ill.-based business aviation services company has earned Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for a custom-designed medical stretcher base as part of an air ambulance interior the company installed in a Beechjet 400A aircraft exclusively for Birmingham, Ala.-based AirMed International.

As the leading air ambulance company in the country, AirMed operates a fleet of permanently configured medical jets, and Elliott Aviation has converted two Beechjet aircraft from their existing executive club configurations into customized air ambulance interiors for AirMed.  All interior modifications are being performed at Elliott Aviation’s Completion Center at Quad Cities International Airport (MLI).

The Elliott Aviation design team worked in partnership with AirMed to create a custom interior design featuring a stretcher on rails that enables rapid entry and exit from the aircraft, as well as safe travels for patients and medical care professionals.

The medical stretcher measures 69 inches (175 cm) long and is equipped with an altimeter, digital clock, two oxygen regulators, vacuum regulator, multiple annunciators, four AC outlets, oxygen filling station, air supply regulator and suction canister.

Additional features of the interior include customized pockets to hold IV bags, a modified headliner for oxygen and medical equipment, custom flooring, a fabricated loading ramp and modified aft baggage compartment for ramp and equipment and the left-hand galley was removed and replaced with a seat.

“The AirMed project is an outstanding example of Elliott Aviation’s dedication to creating one-of-a-kind interiors for our clients,” said Ron Jennings, director of technical sales, Elliott Aviation. “Our design team and craftsmen pride themselves on delivering custom-built interiors that exceed customer expectations.”
